Ok, one more post cause I just thought of something. I’m obviously not doing something right so if anyone has suggestions on exercise, diet, etc…please feel free to chime in. I’m open to everything! I can’t starve myself and I have literally the biggest appetite on the planet but I try very hard not to eat crap (only) and to make good choices. So, what I really need is someone who knows what they are doing telling me what to do, what to eat and when to do it.
If you are that person, you are hired. I won’t pay you but seeing me lose weight will be payment enough : )

I have not abandoned my blog! I have not stopped exercising! Ok, so some days here and there, I’m fucking exhausted and the last thing I want to do when I get home from work and picking up the kid is to exercise. Nor do I want to shorten my sleep length by waking up at the butt crack of dawn to exercise.
That being said, I really have not stopped. I’m loving my new heart monitor. I understand its purpose now. If I’m in my target heart rate and am moving around, I will burn calories. If I’m at the peak of my target heart rate or slightly higher and move my tush I burn even more calories! The other day I burned something like 530 calories in a 55 minute workout where the time before I did this workout, I had only burned like 485. Why? because my heart rate was much higher and I pushed myself much more. So what’s the problem? I haven’t lost any weight. Nothing. Nada. Zero. I don’t care how my clothes feel or if my friends say that my waist looks slimmer. Bullshit. I want to see it on the scale. I want to see it on the scale or what’s the point? I know I’m stronger. My last fit test showed me that in spades. Some exercises I double in from the first time. My push-ups especially! But not 1 fucking pound.
I’m not going to give up though. I’m not stopping until I can look at a picture taken of me and proudly tag myself on facebook. That moment won’t come anytime soon but it has to come eventually.

So, I was feeling pretty darn good after recovery week. So nice and relaxing; it did not prepare me for what was about to happen: Week 5. On the first day was the fit test.
Fit test 3 (day 36) results:
Power Knees- 55
Power Jumps- 17 (decrease)
Globe Jumps- 6
Suicide Jumps- 10
Push-Up Jacks- 12 (decrease)
Low Plank Oblique- 33
I blame myself for the 2 decreases. I usually look at the previous results so that I can push myself to do better but on those two I just didn’t look and was pretty disappointed because I think I could have pushed myself harder to beat my last score. So when the fit test was done, I was like “what? they want me to do a whole other workout now? What the fuck?!” I’m already exhausted from the fit test and I put in Max Interval Circuit. Now, that is just mean, Shaun T. Mean! Another 60 minutes! Huh? Wha? Seriously?! Ok, let’s do this! It also so happens that this was my 2nd day wearing my brand new super groovy Polar heart monitor. On my 1st day, I burned 345 calories in a 40 minute workout. Below are results for day 2.
Heart Monitor Results (4/19/13): My ideal heart rate is 121-158. Workout duration: 1:23:54. Calories burned: 771 (that’s right bitches). Average heart rate: 148. Max heart rate: 167. In zone: 1:03:58
That night I was in pain. The next morning, more pain. That shit was hard. It was like take month 1 and adding a new element to every move. It was grueling and the time extension was I think the worst part. I had to skip 4/20/13 because I was just too exhausted and in too much pain. I vowed that today (4/21) I would do 2 workouts. 1 in the am and 1 in the pm. I totally kicked cardio butt today. Woke up, did my Max Interval Plyo and burned 480 calories, then just finished (5:30pm) Max Cardio conditioning and burned another 407 calories!
I also broke out into hives on my neck, but that is a totally different blog topic.

So now I am motivated more than ever. After a horrifying dress shopping adventure with my friend, reality really hit home. That being said, I got on the scale today and another pound GONE! Yes, 5lbs altogether off my body and 1 inch all around! I couldn’t be happier. It’s not a lot, I know, but it’s something. The scale is going down instead of up. Anything positive helps so much. I don’t think I’ve seen the scale go down in almost a year! So, now I can’t wait to get home today and do more power squats, suicides and mountain climbers. Bring it on!

I don’t know what it is about those 3 rounds of warm-ups but every single time I get to “high knees” I want to shoot Shaun T in the face. I end up doing something that might resemble high-knee-marching-in-place slooooooowwwwwwwly. I’m still trying to lift my legs up high using my core, but at a rapid pace? Hell no! The weirdest part is that the only time my body is willing to do the high knees is in the 3rd round. My mental process is ridiculous. I make my body do it because I’m thinking…it’s almost over!
So now I have a new goal during the Insanity program- 3 rounds of high knees! And no replacing butt kicks with high knees! When I’ve done 3 rounds of high knees I know I’ve accomplished something great.

I’ve now made it a full two weeks on Insanity. While I’m not about to publish my measurements for the world to see, I will post my day 1 vs. day 15 fit test results.
Please note I have been a little sick for a couple days so I’m pretty happy I got through this at all.

Power Knees 29 45
Power Jumps 20 22

I only named this post “Exodus” because it is the first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover. I have not exited the Insanity program. In fact, I’ve completed 11 days of crazy and I’m feeling pretty great. I really love the convenience of the program. I can do it in the morning or when I get home from work or late at night, it doesn’t matter. I’ve previously been practicing Bikram Yoga for over a year and while I love it to death, you really have to plan your entire day around your yoga class. For one, you need to find a 3 hour window in your day: get there early to get a good spot and get acclimated, practice for 1.5 hours, then shower, dress and go. If it is first thing in the morning, I have to make sure I get a good nights sleep. If it is after work, I have to make sure I made good food choices during the day, not eating within 2 hours prior and drink a shit ton of water. It was definitely worth it; you feel like a million bucks when you leave and you are completely relaxed. So great. With Insanity, I’m super pumped. I feel like fist pumping into the air I’m so excited. And, it totally puts me in a good mood, and I feel like I’ve accomplished something- especially when my 4 year old has been vomiting for 3 days. Poor kid : (
